How long have you worked in Med Comms?

I have been working in the healthcare industry for ~4 years, after completing my MSc in Biomedical Science. In a former life, I worked for pharmaceutical companies in clinical research departments. I’ve spent the last ~2 years working as a Medical Writer at Med Comms agencies.

Heart failure (HF) is a pressing and illusive public health epidemic. Nearly 50% of all HF cases involve HFpEF — to which there is no defined therapy (1). As such, refining prediction and treatment of HF is a crucial step in alleviating high morbidity and mortality (2). The development of novel clinical tools and therapies that assist in the diagnosis and management of HF, such as the use of biomarkers, are essential to improving patient outcomes.

How to mitigate Zoom fatigue

Back at the start of 2020 I had never heard of Zoom. If I had to join a meeting remotely, I would ask the host to dial me in. At a push I’d use Skype, but I would never, ever, turn on my video!

Working and Wellness

It’s now been a full year since we began our pandemic-enforced working from home experience. We left the office with a rather optimistic note that “this might last several weeks or more, so remember to take all your gear home with you!”. But apart from a couple of weeks before the UK’s second wave in October, we’ve been at home ever since.
